Irizar e-mobility has won a contract to supply seven fully electric buses to EMT Fuenlabrada.

The operator has purchased seven 12m Irizar ‘ie tram’ bus. This bus model has been designed to look like a tram in order to alter the public’s perception of bus travel.

Features of this bus model include that it is relatively quiet at below 70dB with the air conditioning on and has good capacity – space for 26 seated passengers as well as up to 54 standing passengers . The new buses also come with USB charging ports.

To be accessible, the buses are low-floor vehicles that are equipped with a ramp. There will also be priority spaces and seats for passengers with reduced mobility, sound and light-emitting door buttons and stop buttons with braille.

The buses will be equipped with external radar technology to detect obstacles.

The electric buses will have 430kWh Irizar batteries that can be charged using an inverted pantograph or a Combo 2 charging outlet. The drive unit will be a 206kW central motor. The range of the ie tram bus will be sufficient for 16 hours of operation.
