UK coach operator, National Express has teamed up with Uber to enhance the passenger booking experience.
Uber Travel is a new door-to-door offering from Uber that enables customers to book coach and rail transport on the Uber app alongside its ride-hailing service. This booking functionality is powered by Omio.
The new expansion will allow passengers to book National Express journeys through the app to centralise their domestic travel bookings.
Andrew Brem, general manager at Uber UK said:Uber users have been able to book rides, bikes, boat services and scooters on the Uber app for a number of years now. We’re thrilled to expand Uber Travel, adding the UK’s best travel services across rail and road creating the ultimate door-to-door travel experience.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic which significantly disrupted international travel, new research from Uber has found that almost 3 in 5 Brits (57%) say they’re now more likely to holiday in the UK rather than abroad.
Brits were also shown to favour low-cost travel, with almost half (49%) stating this was the most important factor when booking a trip. In addition, two-fifths (40%) said they prioritised taking the most direct route to their destination, whilst over a third (34%) wanted a hassle-free booking experience.
National Express believes it is well-positioned to give British travellers the experience they want, which is reinforced through this latest collaboration with Uber Travel.
Chris Hardy, managing director at National Express UK Coach said:We pride ourselves on offering our customers convenient and great value travel on the newest and greenest coach fleet in the UK. Being part of the Uber Travel expansion means that Uber users can easily access safe and reliable coach travel that is great for the pocket and the environment. We are excited to see customers take advantage of the new offering.
Uber app users can now access online exclusive fares on National Express.
Customers who book their coach or rail bookings on the Uber app will also receive 10% of the cost of their booking back as Uber Credits.
