Transport operator Nobina has announced the introduction of 27 brand-new Scania biogas buses into service on Malmö-Lund/Kristianstad routes.

The buses have been specifically designed to fit requirements laid out by public transport authority Skånetrafiken, and will be equipped with coat seats, a toilet and other additional interior options intended to improve passenger experience on longer journeys.

Introduction of the new fleet of vehicles aims to underline both Nobina and Skånetrafiken’s continued commitment to sustainable public transport, with all buses set to use locally produced biogas.

Helena Ericson, Fleet Manager at Nobina, said:

Sustainability is important to us, and the vehicles should also be easy to own. This is important for our drivers, our passengers, and for our mission to deliver reliable transport every day.

All bus bodies will be built by Irizar and utilise Irizar i4 models – marking a Swedish premiere for the model itself.

The vehicles will be delivered in close collaboration with Irizar’s representative in Sweden, LECAB Lastbilar AB.

Rutger Hörndahl, Key Account Manager, Scania Sverige, said:

Biogas is a circular and locally produced solution that provides great climate benefits here and now.

With the Scania Irizar i4, Nobina will receive a modern and comfortable bus that is quiet, energy-efficient and well-suited for regional travel. We are proud to continue to contribute to the sustainable development of public transport in the Skåne region.
