A set of 40 brand-new Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses have officially joined the fleet of Polish operator MZK Toruń.

Delivery of the vehicles forms part of a contract first signed in May 2025, which will also see Solaris provide full charging infrastructure necessary to utilise the buses.

To celebrate the successful delivery; an official handover ceremony was attended by both representatives of Miejski Zakład Komunikacyjny (MZK) in Toruń and Solaris Bus & Coach.

Solaris will provide both plug-in chargers and pantograph chargers at MZK’s local depot, as well as across the city.

With this latest delivery, a total of 50 fully electric Solaris vehicles are now in operation across the streets of Toruń.

Mateusz Figaszewski from Solaris Bus & Coach Sp. z o.o., said:

We are pleased that another 40 battery-electric buses from Solaris have joined the fleet of MZK Toruń.

The new zero-emission fleet represents a continuation of the investment in sustainable public transport for the residents of the city and surrounding areas

All vehicles supplied under the latest contract are low-floor and fully air-conditioned – with each having been equipped with safety systems compliant with GSR2 (General Safety Regulation 2), including a Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) for detecting cyclists in blind spots, as well as a Moving Off Information System (MOIS), which detects pedestrians and cyclists in front of the vehicle when pulling away and alerts the driver to their presence.
