Oakville Transit has unveiled its first batch of e-Jest electric buses, which were manufactured by Karsan to provide on-demand transportation services in Oakville, Ontario.

The new 20-foot e-Jest vehicles were delivered in January 2023 to replace Oakville’s existing diesel buses.

They will enter service this spring and will be used to deliver Oakville Transit services such as care-A-van, Home to Hub and Ride On-Demand.

To prepare for this deployment, ten charging stations have been installed at Oakville Transit’s operations facility.

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence and Member of Parliament for Oakville, said:

The first group of zero-emission, battery-electric, specialised buses arriving in Oakville is an exciting milestone for our community that will bring us one step closer to a net-zero emissions future by 2050.

Oakville Transit is also scheduled to receive its first 15 larger electric buses for conventional services in early 2024.

Over the next five years, it anticipates that approximately 50 percent of its fleet will be converted from diesel to electric.
