NFI Group Inc. subsidiary Motor Coach Industries (MCI) has expanded an order with Metrolinx to include an additional 47 D45 CRT diesel commuter coaches.

The expanded order consists of two agreements: one for 33 coaches and another for 14 coaches, both of which expands on an existing 97-coach order first announced in early July 2025.

MCI will deliver 47 additional D45 CRT coaches to Metrolinx

Metrolinx initially ordered 80 coaches during the first quarter of 2025, and, with these additional coaches added to the existing order, the total vehicle commitment now stands at 224 MCI vehicles – all of which will replace aging coaches within the agency’s fleet.

Rob Marion, President, MCI, said:

These additional orders are a strong testament to our partnership with Metrolinx and the confidence they place in MCI.

The D45 CRT is purpose-built for demanding commuter applications, and we’re pleased to provide Metrolinx with coaches that deliver the safety, dependability, and passenger experience their customers expect.

Specialised for high-capacity commuter and regional transportation; MCI’s D45 CRT commuter coach will be used to support Metrolinx as it continues to provide regional transit across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
