Poland: Opoczno Orders 12 Solaris Urbino Electric Buses

Solaris has been contracted to supply 12 electric buses and their charging infrastructure to the town of Opoczno, Poland.

This contract is valued at over 36 million PLN (7.8m EUR) and is the first order that Solaris has received from Opoczno.

Under this contract, Solaris will deliver six Urbino 9 LE electric buses and six Urbino 12 electric units, as well as the related plug-in charging infrastructure.

The 9-metre buses will have capacity for up to 55 passengers, while the 12-metre units will be able to carry up to 70 people.

Jakub Zakrzewski, Sales Director for Northern Poland at Solaris Bus & Coach, said:

“The signing of the contract for 12 state-of-the-art electric buses, taking place today, is an event of enormous importance for us. We are delighted that Opoczno has decided to start collaborating with us, becoming yet another city on the map of zero-emission Solaris buses. E-mobility is, no doubt, the future of transport, and the zero-emission buses that will soon join the local fleet will bring numerous tangible benefits to the town’s residents.”

The vehicles are scheduled to enter service in the first half of 2024 and will be powered by high-energy batteries. These will have a capacity of 280kWh in the 9-metre vehicles and 420kWh in the 12-metre units.

As part of this order, Solaris will equip the buses with fully automated air-conditioning, an automatic passenger counting system and a thermal pre-conditioning system.
