Solaris Bus & Coach has presented its Urbino 15 LE electric model at Bus Euro Test 2026, an international vehicle assessment event organised by the Bus of the Year jury.

This year’s edition of the event focuses on intercity buses, with manufacturers showcasing vehicles designed for regional and longer-distance transport services. Participating vehicles are assessed under operating conditions that include evaluations of performance, energy efficiency, passenger comfort, driver ergonomics, braking capability and noise levels.

Solaris selected the Urbino 15 LE electric as its entry for the 2026 tests. The model has been developed for both urban and regional routes, combining features intended to support city operations with those suited to longer journeys.

The vehicle can accommodate up to 100 passengers and provides seating for up to 65 people, depending on configuration. Its front section features a low-floor design to facilitate passenger boarding and movement in urban environments, while the rear section has been configured to provide additional seating and comfort for intercity travel.

The bus is capable of travelling up to approximately 600 kilometres on a single charge, depending on operating conditions and vehicle specification. The model uses Solaris High Energy battery technology and supports charging through both CCS2 plug-in systems and pantograph infrastructure.

The Urbino 15 LE electric also incorporates a range of safety and driver assistance systems designed to comply with current European regulations, including General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2) requirements and the R66 rollover safety standard.

Safety features include blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, traffic sign recognition and driver fatigue detection systems. The vehicle is also equipped with electronic braking and stability technologies, including Electronic Braking System (EBS), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and a Collision Mitigation System (CMS).

The model has already entered service with operators in several European countries. More than 600 vehicles have been contracted to date, with around 320 delivered, primarily to operators in Sweden, as well as customers in the Netherlands, Spain and Poland.

The company has previously received Bus of the Year awards for the Urbino 12 electric in 2017 and the Urbino 18 hydrogen in 2025. The latter won the title during the previous Bus Euro Test cycle.
