PSI Modernizes and Expands Depot Management System of Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG
Wide-Ranging Digitalization and Automation of Operations
Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB) has commissioned PSI Transcom GmbH with the expansion of the existing Depot Management System (DMS) PSItraffic. The project comprises three phases in which the Heslach, Möhringen and Remseck depots will be equipped.
After more than ten years of successful control of operational processes with PSItraffic/DMS, the system will be significantly expanded for SSB’s light rail division. This involves a changeover from the previous route set-up, in which the fixed-route is defined to a fixed parking space, to a more flexible free setup. This will strongly reduce the planning workload and increase the quality of the fixed route allocation.
PSI’s own optimization software Qualicision will continue to be used. Furthermore, additional functionalities, such as the use of mobile terminals or the optimized formation and separation of double tractions, will significantly support operations.
The implementation will take place step by step, parallel to ongoing operations, at the three depots and the associated stabling facilities. The agile development and delivery process will ensure smooth migration at SSB.
Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG has been using PSItraffic/DMS since 2008 to automatically control its operations and ensure that the buses and streetcars are ready for their routes. With around 500 buses and streetcars on 72 lines with approx. 600,000 passengers daily, the company is one of the largest and most modern local transport companies in Germany.
The PSI Group develops its own software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities (energy grids, energy trading, public transport) and industry (metals production, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics). The industry-specific products, which are built from standard components, are sold both directly and via the multi-cloud PSI App Store and can also be customized by customers and partners themselves. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs more than 2,200 people worldwide.
