Scania has unveiled the latest generation of its Scania Touring coach, which aims to build on previous concepts whilst bringing the existing vehicle’s exterior, passenger environment, driver area and powertrain features to a more modern standard.

A key part of Scania’s bus and coach portfolio since its initial introduction in 2009; the Scania Touring has seen wide utilisation throughout the travel segment in recent years, with the gas-driven model winning the Sustainable Bus Award in 2025.

The new Scania Touring Coach aims to update the existing model to provide an improved experience for both drivers and passengers

The new-generation model will feature an updated exterior design, improved aerodynamics, reduction in overall energy consumption, lower noise levels, digital rear-view mirrors and a higher light position.

Sundeep Kumar, Head of Portfolio Management, People Transport Solutions, Scania, said:

The new generation Scania Touring is a significant improvement of what is already an advanced and highly appreciated coach.

It combines the reliability and energy efficiency that customers expect from Scania with a much anticipated, new Scania-specific design as well as key upgrades in luggage capacity and for the driver and passenger experience.

Inside, the vehicle’s driver area has received a number of updates to support enhanced visibility, control and the overall driving experience in everyday operation. These include changes to the existing driver door and side window and an expansion of the digital Smart Dash interface, which now displays functionalities like passenger infotainment, navigation and reverse camera.

Elsewhere, the passenger experience has also been upgraded. Wider, deeper staircases aim to improve accessibility, whilst redesigned luggage racks and increased luggage capacity aim to support the needs of longer journeys. The new Scania Touring also offers updated interior design options, including Kiel Avance X seats with USB-C ports, new colour and trim alternatives, updated service sets and ambient lighting.

Finally, the new coach utilises a Euro 7-prepared Super powertrain, which is typically capable of offering 8-10% fuel and emission savings, as well as simpler maintenance and a 25% extended lifespan. Additionally, a reduced number of parts, improved parts availability and Scania’s service offering will aim to help operators keep vehicles on the road and reduce the risk of operational disruptions.

In line with Scania’s overall strategy to support the sustainability journey of customers with differing needs and prerequisites, the company has announced that the new Scania Touring will also be introduced on other, recently launched powertrain platforms, as part of a phased rollout in which the BEV variant will be first out.
