On 6 October, Van Hool unveiled its 24-metre double-articulated electric bus model ordered by Île-de-France Mobilités for operations in Paris.

The vehicle has been developed by a consortium comprised of Alstom, Van Hool and Kiepe Electric.

It will be powered by Kiepe Electric’s high-power fast-charging batteries and will recharge using conductive ground-based static charging (SRS) supplied by Alstom.

The new high-capacity bus was unveiled at Busworld Europe 2023
The new high-capacity bus was unveiled at Busworld Europe 2023

In 2022, Île-de-France Mobilités signed a framework agreement with the consortium for a minimum vehicle order of 56.

Each fully electric bus will be able to transport up to 140 passengers. At peak times, they will operate at intervals of every 5 minutes to improve the capacity of Paris’ public transport network.

The new vehicles will thus support Île-de-France Mobilités in providing efficient transportation services during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
