The Transport Company for the city of Ústí nad Labem in the Czech Republic has exercised an option for the supply of an additional 12 Škoda 27Tr trolleybuses.

The initial contract for up to 33 of these vehicles was signed in 2022, with a base order for 21 units.

This latest order for twelve additional vehicles is valued at almost 250 million CZK (10.5 million EUR), bringing the total value of the contract to more than 650 million CZK (27.4 million EUR).

Ústí Trolleybuses
The new trolleybuses are based on the well-known Škoda 27Tr model

These three-axle trolleybuses each have four doors and a capacity of 115 passengers.

Due to the rugged terrain in the city, the trolleybuses designed for Ústí nad Labem are equipped with two drive axles.

Simona Mohacsi, Chairman of the board and Executive Director of the Transport Company of the City of Ústí nad Labem said:

With the delivery of 33 large-capacity partial trolleybuses, the vehicle park of this traction will be fundamentally modernised.

We are really happy that we managed to sign a contract with our long-standing and, for now, only supplier of Škoda brand trolleybuses, and we sincerely look forward to the new trolleybuses hitting the streets of Ústí nad Labem. I believe that with the delivery of these vehicles, there will be an increase in comfort for the travelling public and our drivers.

The Škoda 27 Tr trolleybuses for Ústí nad Labem will have modern features including full-car automatic air conditioning, live information screens and USB chargers.

They will operate using an overhead catenary but are also equipped with a traction battery to run on non-electrified areas.

Additionally, each vehicle will feature an internal and external camera system that can monitor blind spots to assist the driver in increasing safety.

Petr Novotný, President Components & Bus Mobility at Škoda Group said:

A stable and long-term partnership with our clients is the most important thing for us. Škoda trolleybuses perfectly combine innovation, reliability and consideration for the environment, which is why customers keep coming back to us. For that reason too, we are considered one of the leading manufacturers of trolleybuses in Europe. And we definitely do not take this commitment lightly.
