Daimler Buses has set out its latest developments in electric mobility and digital services ahead of its appearance at BUS2BUS 2026, taking place on 15–16 April at Messe Berlin.

The company plans to present a range of vehicles and services covering urban, intercity and touring applications.

Mercedes‑Benz eIntouro

The central exhibit will be the new Mercedes-Benz eIntouro, the manufacturer’s first battery-electric model designed for intercity routes. The vehicle is based on the diesel-powered Intouro platform and is intended for regional services, school transport and shorter excursions.

Two versions will be available, measuring 12.18 metres and 13.09 metres, with seating for between 50 and 63 passengers. The bus uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, offered in one or two packs with a combined capacity of up to 414 kWh. A maximum range of up to 500 kilometres can be achieved under certain operating conditions.

The model is also the first European bus from Daimler Buses to support over-the-air software updates. These updates are managed through the Omniplus On portal and can be installed without a workshop visit, subject to operator approval.

The eIntouro operates on an 800-volt system and uses a centrally mounted electric motor producing 320 kW of continuous power. Energy is delivered to the drive axle via a three-speed automatic transmission. The batteries are designed for a service life of up to 15 years, with a high proportion of usable capacity.

Charging is carried out using a CCS Type 2 connection with up to 400 kW charging capability.

City Bus and Touring Coach

Alongside the intercity model, Daimler Buses will display the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G in the outdoor area. The articulated bus is equipped with six battery packs totalling 588 kWh and a drive system delivering 360 kW. It also includes a range of driver assistance systems and a 270-degree camera system to support manoeuvring.

The company will also present the Setra TopClass S 516 HDH, a three-axle coach designed for long-distance travel. The vehicle features onboard connectivity, multimedia systems and driver assistance technologies, alongside a diesel powertrain producing 375 kW.

Digital Services

Daimler Buses is continuing to expand its digital platform, Omniplus On, which provides remote diagnostics, vehicle monitoring and data integration services. New functions include battery monitoring, consumption analysis and remote control of charging and climate systems.

The company is also offering a limited-period package of complimentary digital services for newly delivered vehicles, with longer access periods for battery-electric models.

Charging Infrastructure

Under the Omniplus Charge brand, Daimler Buses is consolidating its charging and hydrogen infrastructure activities. The company provides planning, installation and operation of charging systems, including a Charging-as-a-Service model in which infrastructure is operated on behalf of customers.

More than 60 infrastructure projects have been secured to date. Plans are also in place to establish public fast-charging stations for buses at selected locations in Germany, including Cologne and Munich, with charging capacities of up to 600 kW.

BUS2BUS is held every two years and combines a trade exhibition with conferences and networking sessions for the bus and coach sector. Daimler Buses’ participation will mirror a broader industry focus on electrification, digitalisation and operational efficiency across different transport segments.
