At Busworld, Solaris has launched the latest model of its Urbino 18 electric articulated bus.
The vehicle features an improved design with new driveline architecture, rather than a conventional engine tower. The power components are thus placed on the roof and in the rear of the vehicle to maximise passenger capacity, facilitate servicing and provide greater flexibility.
As a result, the Urbino 18 electric bus can now carry up to 145 passengers.
At Busworld, the displayed model is equipped with a 240 kW asynchronous motor and the latest generation of Solaris High Energy batteries. However, the manufacturer offers a range of battery configurations, providing a capacity of up to 800 kWh, delivering a range of 600 kilometres on a single charge.
In addition, the updated Urbino 18 electric bus now fulfils all upcoming safety standards, including new GSR2 and cybersecurity requirements that will enter into effect in the EU from July 2024 for newly registered vehicles.
Alongside this new vehicle offering, Solaris is also displaying its Urbino 18 hydrogen bus at Busworld. This model was first presented at InnoTrans last year.
