Accessibility Systems for the Bus and Coach Industry

Passenger Doors, Access Ramps, Lifts

Masats is a reference in public transport accessibility systems, including passenger doors and accessibility systems for people with special needs.

With more than 50 years of experience supplying electric and pneumatic door systems to the bus and coach industry in addition to access ramps and lifts for PRM.

The company stands out due to its innovative technology and because it is customer and service-oriented. Masats supplies products worldwide from its headquarters near Barcelona and to the North American market from its US-based plant.

Electric and Pneumatic Doors for Buses

City buses need quick, safe and resistant doors with high-level visibility.

Masats provides electric and pneumatic doors for buses, characterised by their modularity, that are easy to install, require low maintenance and have low life cycle costs (LCC).

The doors come in different openings, inside, outside or the state-of-the-art electric sliding door systems, and combine with the access ramps for people with special needs. The ramps may be electric to provide greater ease for the driver and passengers, or manual providing easy access for tighter budgets.

Our systems meet the most stringent regulations, including the UNO R107 regulation, adapting to the requirements in each country.

Outward-Opening Systems for Inter-City Buses and Coaches

The range of inter-city buses contains two different ranges, with one adapted more for city-type doors and the other for inter-city type doors, which require greater watertightness.  Depending on the needs of the customer, we have inward-opening and outward-opening doors, adapted more for city use, and outward-opening doors with interlocking, more suited to inter-city use.

Pneumatic and electric doors on inter-city buses represent a commitment to quick opening and the need to provide greater quality of sealing in terms of wind or external noise entering the bus.

We offer also ramps and Lifts for access to inter-city buses. With ramps for low floors or lifts positioned on the steps of the vehicles (type KS7)

High-speed vehicles require doors with excellent watertightness and careful finishes expected in this class of vehicle.

Outward-opening doors with interlocking are the best option due to their excellent performance. At Masats, we provide basic pneumatic systems, high-performance electro-pneumatic systems and maximum-performance electric systems with electronic control. A range for every type of vehicle.

The doors can incorporate reduced rubber seals with sensitive edges that improve passenger safety, giving the vehicle a more modern line.

New outward-opening electric door Swyncro, without interlocking lift, represents the most safe and reliable system outstanding for its high availability and resistance. The neat design, without the need for tension rods or wedges, enhances the appearance of the vehicle.

Masats’ world renowned emergency systems provide the safety and reliability that these systems require. From pneumatic switches and pneumatic rotating controls to rotating controls with cable, in different versions, manual controls or controls with electric locking.

Pioneers of Boot Mechanisms

Masats was pioneer in developing pneumatic systems for the luggage compartments, this means we can provide an integral solution for all access needs to this type of vehicle.

Pneumatic luggage systems mean improved vehicle design, requiring a single luggage cover running the entire side of the vehicle, which opens at the touch of a button.

This can be coordinated by remote control to complete the central locking throughout the coach.

Access systems are completed by elevator platforms for high-floored vehicles and come in two ranges: The KS7 lift, which can be positioned on the stairs or on a dedicated door, and the new KV5, a simple and reliable lift that can be positioned on a dedicated door for greater passenger ease of mind.

Electric Doors for Minibuses

Masats pioneered the way in the manufacture of electric doors for minibuses. With almost 30 years’ experience in these, we offer electric actuators adapted to small spaces.

We provide outward Plug mechanisms with interlock  system, or without it, for quicker opening / closing cycles.

The 028a Sliding door for minibuses is particularly suitable for this type of vehicle with limited upper space available.

We also ensure access to minibus vehicles with our manual RM2 ramp, the electrical ramp RE1, or the telescopic manual+electric RT1 ramp.

New Technologies for a Better LCC

Masats is actively working on adapting new technologies to its systems. The new DCU Evolution electronics, a leap forward in the control of the doors, is also prepared to incorporate predictive maintenance. Predictive maintenance allows for greater vehicle availability, as well as reduced LCC.
