Hong Kong: MTR Orders Enviro500EV Double Decker Buses

Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation has become the second operator to order Alexander Dennis Limited’s (ADL) new Enviro500EV electric double decker buses.

MTR Corporation is the government-owned provider of Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway urban rail system, which includes a network of 169 feeder buses.

The ADL Enviro500EV three-axle electric double decker buses will be the operator’s first deployment of electric buses when they are delivered in 2023.

The units will be developed by ADL in-house and will be able to carry up to 130 passengers.

Alexander Dennis Managing Director Asia Pacific, Andy Boulton said:

“With the next generation of electric bus technology, fully integrated by our own engineers, we are now in a position to deliver a zero-emission solution for Hong Kong’s world class transport system. The Enviro500EV will showcase MTR Corporation’s landmark investment in cleaner transport.”

This order from MTR Corporation follows KMB’s procurement of ten Enviro500EVs, which will also be rolled out in Hong Kong next year.
