Solaris has received orders to deliver four Urbino 12 hydrogen buses to Venice, Italy.

The vehicles will be supplied under two contracts with Italian operators AVM Venezia and ACTV SPA Venezia. These contracts have a total value of 2.5 million EUR.

The 12-metre hydrogen-fuelled buses are scheduled to arrive in Italy in mid-2023 to operate in Venice and its surrounding communes.

Ongoing servicing of the vehicles will be provided by eSConnect, a bus fleet monitoring and management system designed by Solaris.

The Urbino 12 hydrogen buses will be equipped with a 70kW hydrogen fuel cell and roof-mounted tanks. According to Solaris, the vehicles will be quick to refuel and will have a range of around 350 kilometres.

The vehicles will also feature a passenger counting system and Solaris’s MobilEye Shield+ technology which alerts the driver of unexpected objects detected in the vicinity of the bus.

This order follows a 2020 contract with ACTV SPA Venezia, which saw Solaris deliver 30 Urbino 12 electric vehicles to the city.
